Stem Cell Therapy

What Is Stem Cell Therapy?

Stem- Cell Therapy is included in an area of modern medicine known as regenerative medicine. Regenerative medicine simply means that we use the body's own regenerative systems for protecting and repairing itself by inducing certain mechanisms.

Stem cells are the basic building blocks of life, the cells upon which tissue grows and bodies are built. Stem cells are the body's repair cells. They have the ability to divide and differentiate into many different types of cells based on where they are needed throughout the body.

Stems cells can divide and turn into tissues such as skin, fat, muscle, bone, cartilage, and nerve to name a few. Animal stem cell regenerative therapy can lengthen and rejuvenate the quality of life for adult dogs and cats suffering from osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia, ligament and cartilage injuries, back injuries and similar ailments.

Ongoing research is targeting other once incurable diseases, and the preliminary results are very encouraging.

The treatment uses the animal's own stem cells from its fat to heal its body.

A Pet's Place of Clearwater is the first Hospital in the Pinellas County area to offer this therapy.

Pet Vaccinations

Protecting your best friend
Vaccinations DogsOne of the most important things you can do to give your dog a long and healthy life is to ensure that he or she is vaccinated against common canine diseases. Your dog's mother gave her puppy immunity from disease for the first few weeks of existence by providing disease-fighting antibodies in her milk. After that period it's up to you, with the help and advice of your veterinarian – to provide that protection.

How do vaccines work?
Vaccines contain small quantities of altered or "killed" viruses, bacteria or other disease-causing organisms. When administered, they stimulate your dog's immune system to produce disease-fighting cells and proteins – or antibodies – to protect against disease.

Preventive Medicine For Pets

Pet Preventive MedicinePreventive Medicine

It is key to a healthy and happy pet. It will ultimately save time and money, as well as unnecessary suffering.

We offer a comprehensive program which includes semi-annual physical examinations where a complete physical is performed, assigning a body condition score, checking the skin, the musculoskeletal system, the circulatory system, listening to the respirations, palpating the abdomen to check the intestinal tract, liver, kidneys, spleen and genitourinary tracts, examining the eyes, ears, nose and throat, palpating the lymph nodes, checking the mucous membranes, capillary refill time, and teeth, discussing nutrition and exercise, and consulting about behavioral problems. Obviously Vaccinations are key to preventing or at least minimizing disease.

Surgical Services for Pets

Pet surgical servicesWe provide many surgical services, including routine spays and neuters, soft tissue surgeries, orthopedic and oncologic procedures.

What is the most important consideration for anyone undergoing surgery? Anesthesia Gas anesthetic agents used provide the safest least metabolized means to provide pain free procedures with speedy recoveries and no post-op hang over.

Many low cost veterinary hospitals use injectable agents because they cost less and the equipment requirements are minimal.

Additionally injectable anesthetics are difficult to predict and the effects can last for days. Pre-anesthetic blood tests help to ensure a safer procedure, along with patient monitoring equipment (respiration, blood pressure and EKG). Intravenous catheters and fluid therapy provide options to minimize anesthetic complications and prevent shock. Personalized pain relief regimens which include Laser therapy help ensure your pets' comfort, reduces stress and speed the healing process.

Pet Dentistry

Pet DentistryDentistry is a critical component of preventative health care. Dental disease can lead to pain, tooth loss and bacterial infections from periodontal disease resulting in damage to the heart, and kidneys. More than 85% of dogs and cats over four years of age have some form of periodontal disease. A professional dental cleaning will not only give your pet a perfect smile, but it will help ensure a longer, healthier life.
